Failed Payment Recovery Calculator
What are your failed payments worth if you recover them?
Three inputs, one transparent formula, no claimed results. You set the recovery-rate assumption yourself — published data puts retry-only recovery at roughly half of failed payments (see the benchmarks) — and the calculator shows the arithmetic, not a promise.
Count every failed renewal attempt's first failure in a typical month — your billing platform's reports show this.
Your typical subscription charge — the amount that fails when a payment fails.
The share of failed payments you assume a recovery system collects. Published retry-only recovery runs at roughly 51% of failed payments (Churnkey's analysis of Stripe data); conservative planning often uses 30–40%.
The formula, in full: recovered = failed payments × average amount × your recovery-rate assumption. Nothing else is in the model — no churn-lifetime multiplier, no compounding. Swipe Again's own guarantee is framed the same way: Recover $179 in 30 days, guaranteed — or Swipe Again is free the next 30 days. Recovered revenue means every failed payment collected while Swipe Again is active, from any recovery source, as defined in Section 3 of our Terms.

Frequently asked questions
What recovery rate should I assume? Start conservative. Published analysis of Stripe's data puts retries alone at roughly 51% of failed payments recovered; a dedicated system adds decline-specific handling and outreach on top. If you plan at 30–40% and reality beats it, the surprise is a pleasant one. The full published data is on our benchmarks page.
Where do I find my failed-payment count? In your billing platform: Stripe's Billing reports, or your subscription app's failed-charge reporting on Recharge, Chargebee, Recurly, and the rest. Count distinct failed subscriptions in a typical month, not total retry attempts — one failing subscription can generate several attempts.
Is this what Swipe Again will recover for me? No — it's your assumption applied to your numbers, shown so you can judge the size of the problem before buying anything. What Swipe Again actually recovers is measured in your dashboard during the trial, attributed per recovery, under the counting rules on how we count — and the guarantee is written against that measured number, not this estimate.
Why doesn't the calculator include lifetime value? Because recovered subscribers do keep paying, but stacking a lifetime multiplier on an estimate turns arithmetic into marketing. The honest first question is whether one month of recoveries clears the cost. For most stores it clears it many times over; if yours doesn't, don't buy — from anyone.
